Why Peace?

Peace: the absence of war—or other violence—is the most basic of human needs. And yet, despite humanity’s tremendous advances in science, technology—and respect for human dignity in many realms—we have not evolved beyond the barbarism of using violence to get what we want. Millions of people worldwide live in war zones and the resulting poverty. What responsibility does our own country, the United States have for the extent of war?
